Popular downtown Sacramento pizza place will no longer deliver. This is why

The pizzeria said it’s switching to pickup orders only. A popular pizza restaurant in downtown Sacramento, Pizza Supreme Being, has decided to stop offering deliveries due to high volume theft and failed deliveries. The restaurant announced via social media that it uses Square as its point-of-sale system and delivers orders via a third-party courier service, such as Uber Eats. Instead, orders can be picked up at 1425 14th St., Suite C. The shop has also had incidents where orders were sent to incorrect addresses. As of Thursday afternoon, only the website was only offering pick-up orders. The owner, Ben Roberts, declined to comment on the decision to discontinue deliveries.

A popular pizza restaurant in downtown Sacramento will no longer offer deliveries, the pizzeria announced recently via social media.

Instead, Pizza Supreme Being said, orders for its handcrafted sourdough pizzas can be picked up at 1425 14th St., Suite C.

“Due to high volumes of theft and failed deliveries,” Pizza Supreme Being said in a Wednesday post on its Instagram page. “We are not longer offering delivery on our webstore.”

Pizza Supreme Being representatives wrote in the post that the restaurant uses Square as its point-of-sale system and deliver orders via a third-party courier service, such as Uber Eats.

“However, there’s a common misconception that these deliveries are carried out by our own employees,” the Instagram post said. “This has led to misplaced blame on us for any delivery issues, including delays, failures, theft, or problems of any kind.”

Pizza Supreme Being said it’s also had incidents where orders were sent to incorrect addresses.

As of Thursday afternoon, Pizza Supreme Being’s website was only offering pick-up orders.

Customers can also make orders for pickup via phone at 916-917-5559 or in person at the pizzeria, the shop confirmed.

A favorite among Sacramento residents, Pizza Supreme Being recently got a mention in a New York Times’ story about the city’s thriving culinary scene.

When is Sacramento pizza restaurant open? What’s on the menu?

Pizza Supreme Being sells 20-inch whole pizzas, including Hawaiian, pepperoni, vegan pepperoni and chicken bacon ranch.

The shop also sells sandwiches, salads, beer and wine.

The restaurant is open from noon to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday — or until it sells out of pizza dough.

The Sacramento Bee reached out to Pizza Supreme Being owner Ben Roberts on Thursday about the move to halt deliveries, but he declined to comment.
