Ismael Viveros, a 28-year-old man accused of firing a gun at someone during an argument at a campground in Calaveras County, is facing attempted murder and other charges. The incident occurred during a heated argument at the Moccasin campgrounds on Lake Camanche’s south shore. A deputy heard gunshots while on patrol near the campground. Vivero was arrested after being located in a vehicle near the front gate and trying to leave. He was charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felony criminal threats, and felony participation in a street gang.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy heard gunshots Saturday while on patrol near the Moccasin campgrounds on Lake Camanche’s south shore around 9:30 p.m. A person in the area said he was in an argument with the suspect about a minor vehicle accident when the man threatened to kill him and then fired a round from a handgun toward him and other campers. The campers ran for cover and the suspect left the area, the sheriff’s office said. Viveros was arrested after being located in a vehicle near the front gate and trying to leave.He was booked for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, felony criminal threats, and felony participation in a street gang, the sheriff’s office said.
