After 39 years, a beloved pizza parlor in Elk Grove will close its doors for the last time.Patty Cox, the owner of Pizza Bell, said the increasing costs and rent make it difficult to stay open. “Everything is so expensive and there’s only so much that you can raise your pizza,” said Cox. The family owned business on Elk Grove Boulevard is famous for its pizzas, twisted breadsticks and vegan menu. Pizza Bell's last day will be April 28. Cox said the amount of support they have seen since announcing the closure has been overwhelming. "To the point that we didn't have dough, we had to not sell our twisters because we couldn't make them, last night we were almost out of pepperoni," said Cox.Cox has been working 12-hour shifts the last two days due to the number of customers that have stopped by to enjoy their last slice of pizza. Carolyn Spellman told KCRA 3 she has been a customer for over 20 years and considers it a staple in the community."Finding out we won't have this place anymore was sad," said Spellman.In the meantime, Cox looks forward to saying goodbye to her customers. "It's been very hard for myself, my employees," Cox said. "It's been very emotional for us."
