Sacramento Kings NBA Mock Draft Roundup: Who is at 13th?
The NBA Draft is just over two weeks away. Who do experts predict will be on the board for the Sacramento Kings at 13th? The Sacramento Kings have the 13th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, which is expected to include a weaker class. The Kings are in position to add to their roster that has been largely intact since July 2022. The team's general manager, Monte McNair, may use this pick to identify new players for their roster. Potential deals include using it for prospect or packaging it in a deal to acquire veteran talent. If Sacramento holds onto this pick, potential targets include Karl McCain, one of the best shooter/scorers in this draft, and Walter Dillingham, a swingman with solid length and athleticism. However, it remains uncertain about McNair's plans for the 13rd pick.

The NBA Draft is just over two weeks away, meaning that it’s almost decision time for the Sacramento Kings.
Sacramento holds the 13th pick in June 26th’s 2024 NBA Draft, which includes a player pool that many draft experts have projected as a weaker class. Disappointing class or not, the Kings are in a position to add to a roster that has remained largely intact since July 2022.
The possibilities of using the pick on a prospect or packaging it in a deal to acquire veteran talent are both on the table for general manager Monte McNair.
If Sacramento holds into the pick, which players could be on their radar? Let’s look around at some projections from draft analysts around the basketball world.
Malik Monk, who finished second in the NBA Sixth Man of the Year voting, is entering unrestricted free agency and Sacramento might be priced out of retaining him because of salary cap rules. Enter McCain, one of the best shooter/scorers in this draft, who happens to hail from Sacramento. McCain has an easy niche he can fill in the NBA with his scoring versatility, basketball instincts, competitiveness and smarts, making him an attractive option at No. 13.
The Kings don’t exactly need more offense, but Knecht was a devastating scorer at the college level and could become a cheaper replacement for, and potential upgrade over, Kevin Huerter. And then the Kings could move Huerter’s salary in a deal that nets defense. Strong, physical guard who can score from multiple spots on the court and will post-up smaller guards. Provides outstanding rebounding and shot-blocking from his position. Son of former NBA guard Anthony Carter. Walter is a sleek 6’5 195 swingman who has solid length and adequate athleticism on the wing, as well as the frame to put on more muscle … At 6’5 with a 6’10 wingspan, he has a solid frame as a NBA 2-guard … Jump shot is his bread and butter offensively; shows good confidence, range and is not bashful about letting it fly (6.3 3FGA/G) … Can make shots in bunches; had 8 games with 4+ made 3-pointers as a Fr (14.5 PPG). He shows awesome flashes of perimeter skills and can play like a jumbo wing, bringing the ball up the court and splashing three pointers – impressive skills for a 6-10 teenager. He instantly passes the eye test when you see him on the court and it’s rare to see a 6-10 player with his level of movement skills and athleticism. As you can see, the projections are currently a mixed bag for the Sacramento Kings. Prized Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Malik Monk could depart in free agency in the coming weeks, leaving a massive hold in head coach Mike Brown’s second unit. This explains why some analysts have predicted McNair to select a scoring guard like McCain or Dillingham. It’s no secret that the Kings need wing depth, specifically interchangeable forwards that are capable of defending multiple positions. This would make the selection of a defense-first prospect like Cody Williams enticing, but we have learned that McNair will not draft specifically to fill areas of need. McNair, as he has told the media multiple times over the years, is going to draft the best player that he and his front office believe will be available–but what if the best player available isn’t in the draft pool? There have been whispers that Sacramento is looking to move the 13th pick as they attempt to give this roster a face-lift, but it remains to be seen which player(s) that McNair and company are targetting. Draft experts are unsure of the Kings’ plans for the 13th pick, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting end of June for Sacramento as the draft will run into the start of free agency on June 30th.
When is the next NBA off-season date of interest?
The NBA Draft is now a two-night event.
Wednesday, June 26th, will act as the first night of the 2024 NBA Draft, where the Sacramento Kings will make their first-round selection (13th). The second round of the draft will be held on Thursday, June 27th, where the Kings will use its 45th overall pick.
Sacramento hasn’t had a first-round pick since 2022, when it selected Iowa product Keegan Murray with the fourth overall pick.
