Roseville rejects town hall on Flock license plate cameras. Residents plan their own
A Roseville advocacy group plans to hold a public forum Friday to address concerns about ALPRs after the city declined to host a town hall. Roseville, California, has declined to hold a town hall on the Police Department's use of automated license plate readers (ALPRs) amid concerns about surveillance, data sharing and oversight. Local advocacy group DeFlock Roseville is planning a public forum to allow residents to voice their concerns. The group argues that residents need more information about the system's effectiveness and its department ensures it is used appropriately. However, Roseville officials argue that an additional town hall is neither necessary nor appropriate for discussing such a complex issue. The city has used ALPRs since 2018 and maintains that the system has helped police investigate and solve hundreds of crimes. The department's audit results will be published on its website.
