Eight homes in Ceres are using water tanks for drinking water after their well failed earlier this month, following years of efforts to connect to the city’s water system. Eight homes in Ceres, California, are relying on water tanks for drinking water after their well failed earlier this month. Tony Arguelles, a resident who has lived on Mitchell Road since 2016, said that while receiving water from the well was initially a positive experience, conditions worsened due to heavy rain, flooding, and damage to the inner lining of the well. The homeowners association had been working since 2021 to find a solution, but was unable to secure permits to repair or build a new well. Self-Help Enterprises is providing water tanks and bottled drinking water to the affected homes. The city council will need to decide at its October 26 meeting to declare the situation a local emergency.
