UC Davis program offers faster path to earn both teaching credential and master's degree
Dr. Cynthia Passmore, Associate Dean at the UC Davis School of Education, helped to create the program, and she explained it to the host of California Tonight, Edie Lambert. UC Davis has launched a new program to help students earn both a teaching credential and a master's degree in just one calendar year. The program, created by Dr. Cynthia Passmore, Associate Dean at the UC Davis School of Education, reduces the time students spend in school, reduces costs and allows them to start earning money sooner. The shorter format maintains its core components, with students returning in their first year for their master's work integrated into their training. Passmore also highlighted the financial benefits of earning a master’s degree, which places students higher on the pay scale in almost every district in California. The first cohort of students will start in July 2027, timed with their K–12 student teaching placements.
