It took a special occasion for AJ Mendez to make a comeback on Twitter.
The star formerly known as AJ Lee in WWE, re-emerged on the social media platform this Tuesday. Her primary motivation for ending her Twitter hiatus was to spread the word about the Tribeca Film Festival’s world premiere of Sacramento, a feature film in which she is cast.
“Tribeca Film Festival world premiere of Sacramento got me to reinstall this app,” AJ stated in a tweet. “How have you been???”
The comedy, Sacramento, narrates the tale of two friends who impulsively set off on a road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. The director’s chair was occupied by Michael Angarano, who also participated as an actor and a co-writer alongside Chris Smith. Michael Cera, Kristen Stewart, and Maya Erskine are amongst the notable names in the film.
Sacramento marks AJ Mendez’s return to the screen following her portrayal of “Elle Dorado” on the second season of Heels.
Stepping out of the ring in 2015, Mendez has since authored a few books, including a memoir named Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules.
Her literary collaborations include working with Aimee Garcia on the GLOW vs. The Babyface comic series for IDW and the 2022 film Blade of the 47 Ronin. Recently, AJ also contributed as an executive producer to WOW: Women Of Wrestling, although her contract with them ended in 2023.
