Explore Sacramento: Urban Sketchers makes space for creativity
Urban Sketchers is a group of like-minded people, encouraging members to explore the beautiful city of Sacramento, improve their sketching skills and make memories along the way. Urban Sketchers Sacramento, a group of local artists in Sacramento, has been practicing "urban sketching" as a way to explore the city and build a community. The practice involves on-location drawing that combines real-world and individual emotion into a canvas to capture everyday moments in creative light. The group has seen significant growth in just one year, with over 20 people attending their largest event at the Sacramento City Cemetery. They have also hosted meetups at popular cafes and restaurants where they sketch the location and enjoy the food. Currently, Urban Sketcher Sacramento is working towards becoming a chapter with the greater Urban Sketching Organization. The organization, which originated in 2007 with a forum on Flickr for on-locational artists, now has 599 worldwide chapters.
