Vallejo restaurant Sac’s Tasty Hot Dogs marks half a century in business

After 50 years, this North Bay hot dog restaurant is still going strong while rising rents and tight margins have caused popular venues like Berkeley’s Nabolom Bakery and Vallejo waterfront staple Zio Fraedo’s to close. Vallejo restaurant Sac's Tasty Hot Dogs has been in business for 50 years, marking approximately his 4,160th cheese dog at the venue. The restaurant, one of Vallejo's most popular eateries, delivers fast service and unique recipe from 100-year-old Schwarz Meats in Oakland. Manager Darnell Maxey, who has managed the place for around five years, delivered the dogs twice a week and the buns every day. The menu includes chili dogs, cheese dogs, Cajun dogs, chips and drinks. The owner, Cindy Balanesi, took over in 2020 and vowed not to change anything. However, a slight price raise was necessary to keep the doors open.
