Modern Korean concept Seoul St. Midtown closed its doors for good after service Saturday, ending 21-month run in midtown Sacramento.

Minnie Nguyen and Trinh Le’s forward-thinking gastropub replaced de Vere’s Irish Pub at 1521 L St. in September 2022, pairing Korean-style hot chicken and bibimbap bowls with neon cocktails.

After an initial wave of popularity, though, rising inflation and business costs torpedoed the restaurant.

“This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after careful consideration and numerous attempts to navigate the challenges we have faced. Unfortunately, (due) to economic downturn, we are no longer able to sustain our operations,” the owners wrote on Seoul St. Midtown’s website.

Nguyen and Le also own Station 16 around the corner from Seoul St. Midtown, along with two Firehouse Crawfish locations in south Sacramento and a third inside their Daikon Korean BBQ in North Natomas.
