Kentucky’s Justin Edwards among prospects at Sacramento Kings’ latest pre-draft workouts

Here are some of the players who have visited Sacramento for pre-draft workouts with the Kings in recent days. A new list of names emerged Tuesday as the Kings continue to hold pre-draft workouts in preparation for the NBA draft.

A league source told The Sacramento Bee the latest list of prospects to visit the Kings included Kentucky small forward Justin Edwards, UC Santa Barbara point guard Joshua Pierre-Louis, Alabama shooting guard Aaron Estrada and Florida State shooting guard Darin Green.

In addition, Fox 40’s Sean Cunningham reported Memphis shooting guard David Jones, Vichy-Clermont (France) power forward Lucas Dufeal and Western Illinois center Drew Cisse have also visited Sacramento for workouts in recent days.

The first round of the draft will be held June 26. The second round will be held June 27.

The Kings have the 13th pick in the first round. They also have the 45th overall pick in Round 2.

Edwards, 20, is a 6-7 ¼ small forward with a 6-10 wingspan. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 21.4 minutes per game as a freshman at Kentucky, shooting 48.6% from the field, 36.5% from 3-point range and 77.6% at the free-throw line.

Tankathon.com has Edwards projected as the 25th overall pick in the draft. Other analysts have him projected in the 40s as a mid-second-round pick.

Bleacher Report writes: “He isn’t advanced enough in any one offensive area for teams to confidently draft him with a first-round pick. He’ll remain in the second-round conversation for teams willing to bet on shotmaking improvement to complement his athleticism and defensive tools.”

Pierre-Louis, 23, is a 6-4, 190-pound guard who started his college career at Temple before transferring to UC Santa Barbara. He averaged 11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.5 steals in 30.4 minutes per game as a fifth-year senior for the Gauchos. He shot 53.1% from the field and 35.4% from 3-point range but converted just 66.7% of his free-throw attempts.

Estrada, 23, is a 6-3, 190-pound guard who averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 44.9% from the field and 31.3% from 3-point range in 2023-24. He averaged 18.5 points in 2021-22 and 20.2 points in 2022-23, hitting 47.8% from the field and 36.8% from beyond the arc.

Green, 23, is a 6-5, 195-pound guard who spent three years at Central Florida and two years at Florida State. He averaged 11.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals in his final season, shooting 40.6% from the field and 38% from 3-point range on 6.4 attempts per game.

Jones, 22, is a 6-4, 210-pound forward who spent time at DePaul and St. John’s before finishing his career at Memphis. He averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.2 steals for the Tigers as a senior, shooting 45.9% from the field, 38% from 3-point range and 79.7% at the free-throw line.

Dufeal, 21, is a 6-9 power forward who averaged 7.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 blocks in 20.2 minutes per game for Vichy-Clermont in the second-highest professional division in France. He shot 60.2% from the field but went 3 of 26 (.115) from 3-point range and 1 of 67 (.463) at the free-throw line.

Cisse, 24, is a 6-11, 230-pound center who was named Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He averaged 8.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 blocks in 26.9 minutes per game. He shot 60% from the field but converted just 43% at the free-throw line.
