An engine failure aboard an Air Canada flight from Sacramento International Airport caused the pilots Tuesday to land again at the capital city’s airport.
The plane took off bound for Vancouver, British Columbia, about 40 minutes late at 9:52 a.m., according to FlightAware, an online plane tracking system. However, its left engine failed shortly after takeoff and a crew of four people aboard safely landed about 10:35 a.m., according to archived audio dispatch calls reviewed by The Sacramento Bee.
Lindsay Myers, a spokeswoman for the county’s airport system, said the plane had a known mechanical issue overnight and was flying to Vancouver for mechanics to take a look.
“The problem got worse,” Myers said, as the unscheduled flight commenced and the pilot landed again safely.
