Keegan Murray has been a huge player for the Kings this season, helping them break their playoff drought dating all the way back to 2006. The team is becoming a lot better in Sacramento, but the atmosphere around the city and the team are changing, with everything from the #LightTheBeam trend to winning meaningful basketball games, this season and next. After winning on Wednesday and clinching that first playoff spot in over 15 years, a lot of more eyes are going to start to be drawn towards Sacramento and the Kings. Jalen Hood-Schifino, a point guard/shooting guard from the Indiana Hoosiers, could pull up anywhere in the midrange to knock down a jumper.

During the Sacramento Kings’ game on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, Keegan Murray broke the all-time NBA single-season three-point record for rookies. Not only that, he did it while having the highest three-point percentage at an outstanding 40.7% from beyond the arc.
This should come to no surprise, Murray has been improving on his three-point shot every year since college, in just one offseason in college he jumped from 29.6% to 39.8% from three and is now at 40.7%, he just keeps getting better. Keegan Murray has been a huge player for the Kings this season, helping them break their playoff drought dating all the way back to 2006. The Kings’ playoff drought was the longest in any of the four major sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, and NHL).
The Kings’ are a small market team in the NBA and have had a rough 16 years since their last playoff appearance, but players like Domantas Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Keegan Murray, and many more have gave the Sacramento fans some light at the end of the tunnel to look forward.
Not only is the basketball team becoming a lot better in Sacramento, but the atmosphere around the city and the team are changing, with everything from the #LightTheBeam trend to winning meaningful basketball games, this season and next could be a big step in either direction for the Kings and the city behind them. At the beginning of the season and around the All-Star break, people started to talk about the Kings’ but it seemed like they were just an afterthought for most people. But after winning on Wednesday and clinching that first playoff spot in over 15 years, a lot of more eyes are going to start to be drawn towards Sacramento and the Kings.
Plenty of mock drafts have the Kings taking Jalen Hood-Schifino with the 24th pick, and the point guard/shooting guard from the Indiana Hoosiers would be a great fit in Sacramento. Hood-Schifino had an about average three point shot, but could pull up anywhere in the midrange to knock down a jumper. He does stand at 6 ‘6 and about 215 pounds, so he could even get low, post up, and even get some rebounds for you if needed. The point is, the Kings have started to show some signs of life in the franchise and with a great offseason plus a good draft class, the Kings could really start to be in this position for many years to come.
